Bryan, PhD, of the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, who studies suicidal behaviors and prevention strategies, serves as a co-investigator with STRONG STAR and an advisor to the Department of Defense on PTSD and suicide prevention and treatment research. In this interview with NPR’s “Fresh Air,” he discusses the relationship between PTSD and suicidality and challenges faced by the military in helping troops deal with combat stress.
